Travel to Portugal

For arrivals from any EU Schengen area countryThe border-free Schengen Area guarantees free movement (without special formalities) to EU citizens, along with non-EU nationals living in the EU or visiting the EU as tourists, exchange students or for business purposes (anyone legally present in the EU).

 

For arrivals outside the EU Schengen area: If you are planning to travel to an EU country (except Ireland), or Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Andorra, Monaco, San Marino or Vatican City, you must meet the Schengen area rules.

Please note that your passport must be less than 10 years old on the day you enter (check the ‘date of issue’) and valid for at least 3 months after the day you plan to leave (check the ‘expiry date’).

Currency

In Portugal and in most European countries the currency is Euro. Currency exchange can be made at any bank branch.

Local Organizing Committee

The local organizing committee will be present at the conference.


Additionally, there will be a team of support staff present at the venue to help you with practical matters anywhere they can. Please do not hesitate to ask them for assistance when you need it. If they are not able to help you directly they may know who can.

Lunches and Coffee-Breaks

Lunches and Coffee-breaks will take place at Hall 02 and Hall 01 of the Congress Centre.

WiFi Internet Connections

Instructions for temporary users or meeting/conference participants (assuming that the initial password was not changed):

 

Login credentials:

Username: ENUMATH

Password: CnDMp4

  1. Browse available wireless networks and select SSID ‘tecnico-guest’;
  2. Set IP to automatic (DHCP). This is usually the default setting, so you may probably skip this step;
  3. Open your browser and try to access any external website. You will be automatically redirected to the page https://wifi.ist.utl.pt/index.php. Follow the link ‘Web-based login’ at the top of the page concerning short-time, conference, and meetings accounts. Enter the above username/password when requested;
  4. After step 3 you may freely browse and access the Internet. You may need to repeat the above steps if you close your browser or if the connection times out.

At IST the EDUROAM network is also available. To use this connection you need to be affiliated with an EDUROAM institution and have your laptop prepared for the EDUROAM network. EDUROAM is an international collaboration between educational institutions all over the world and provides secure and encrypted wireless access. EDUROAM requires modifications in your computer settings. Further information can be found at the website www.eduroam.org.
